"I recall meeting math professional development guru Steve Hinds at the U.S. Dept. of Education's annual State Directors of Adult Education meeting... I returned from those encounters thinking, "This is the guy we've got to bring to Kentucky to share his unique gift for thinking about and teaching numeracy in engaging, practical, and relevant methods." Steve's trainings over the last three years have been some of our most popular as we continue to build on a key teacher quality strategy--equipping local Adult Education programs with highly effective math educators"

ALANM curricula and professional development are a critical part of getting teachers to engage in student-centered instruction, but it is also vital that teachers and programs have access to the instructional tools that are called for in ALANM lessons. Kentucky adult nmeracy teachers pictured here completed intensive training on geometry and measurement, and they are going back to their programs with all the grid paper, rulers, meter sticks, tiles, and other supplies they need to teach the new lessons.
